How to Use This Scientific Calculator

This calculator works like a standard scientific calculator. You can click the on-screen buttons or use your keyboard for input.

Basic Operations

Enter numbers and use +, -, ×, ÷ for arithmetic. Use parentheses ( ) to control order of operations. Press = or Enter to evaluate.

Trigonometric Functions

sin, cos, tan calculate trigonometric values. Toggle between DEG (degrees) and RAD (radians) mode depending on your input. Most everyday calculations use degrees (a right angle is 90°). Mathematics and physics typically use radians (a right angle is π/2).

Logarithms and Exponents

log calculates the base-10 logarithm. ln calculates the natural logarithm (base e). xy raises a number to any power. squares a number. calculates the square root.

Memory Functions

M+ adds the displayed value to memory. MR recalls the stored value. MC clears memory. The memory indicator shows "M" when a value is stored.

Special Values and Functions

π inserts Pi (3.14159...). e inserts Euler's number (2.71828...). n! calculates factorial. |x| takes the absolute value. 1/x calculates the reciprocal. EXP enters scientific notation (e.g., 5 EXP 3 = 5000).

Frequently Asked Questions

Type numbers and operations using the on-screen buttons or your keyboard. Use parentheses for grouping. Toggle between degrees and radians for trig functions. Press = or Enter to evaluate the expression.
Degrees and radians are two angle measurement systems. A full circle = 360° = 2π radians. To convert: radians = degrees × π/180. Use degrees for everyday calculations, radians for advanced math and physics.
Factorial multiplies a number by every positive integer below it. 5! = 5×4×3×2×1 = 120. 0! = 1 by definition. Used in probability and combinatorics.
log is the base-10 logarithm (common logarithm). ln is the natural logarithm (base e, where e ≈ 2.71828). log(100) = 2 because 10² = 100. ln(e) = 1 because e¹ = e.
Yes! Number keys, operators (+, -, *, /), parentheses, decimal point, and Enter (equals) all work. Backspace deletes the last character. Escape clears.
